2´36” Short film
Nirvana (Sanskrit: निर्वाण, nirvāṇa; Pali: nibbāna) is the liberation from cycles of rebirth
Ashes to Hope is a complimentary video piece to Jackie’s 200–负76度的涅槃 exhibition.
Developed in conjunction with ITR Visuals, “From ashes to hope” is a short film that explores the relationship between rebirth, Nirvana and motherhood. The nirvana represents the state of mind and spiritual surrender in which the cycle of rebirth is trascended.
The handcrafted phoenix sculpture that burns as a visual metaphor of the endless cycle of rebirth is also a symbol of motherhood. The essence of which is only discovered by burning away all the layers of prejudice, custom and believe. Thus accepting the result within as something yours, but unique and individual.
