We teamed up with London-based Thomas Slim to launch their latest engineering project: a compact, “immortal” EDC pocket pen. Built to survive everything from office meetings to being dropped on concrete or submerged in water, the goal was to showcase the pen’s durability without losing its refined, jewelry-like aesthetic.
Since this campaign was designed with a “social-first” mindset, we opted for a unique technical approach. We shot the lifestyle sequences in a vertical anamorphic configuration using the A7SIII paired with Blazar lenses.
This allowed us to maintain the organic flares and distinct bokeh of anamorphic glass while native-framing for 9:16. It gave the vertical content a cinematic scale usually reserved for widescreen, ensuring the Kickstarter teasers felt premium even on a mobile screen.
For the Kickstarter campaign, we produced a suite of content including a main brand film, technical “studio-spec” shorts, and lifestyle content.
We focused on capturing the obsessive engineering—specifically the CNC-machined 304 stainless steel and the mother-of-pearl detailing.
To balance the technical side, we shot lifestyle segments to show the pen in its natural habitat: sketching and writing on the go.
